David Dougherty brings to his strategic consulting not only formal training in public opinion research, but more importantly, diverse, hands-on experience putting that research to work in communicating with consumers as well as voters. In addition to his work with Third Age, David has been involved in management and communications for a wide array of public affairs, political campaigns and international institutional development projects over the last 15 years.
David has advised a variety of association and non-profit clients on message development and targeting based on sound public opinion research, has managed major political campaigns and served as a communications strategist for a national political committee. Since 2001 David has been affiliated with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI). In his capacity as a consultant to NDI, he has designed and implemented training programs and national opinion research projects and provided strategic advice to civil society organizations, political parties and executive branch officials in Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania and, most recently, Iraq.
Besides his client work, David has taught numerous classes and workshops and offered commentary and analysis for a variety of media outlets. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Opinion Research from the University of Connecticut.
